Will gets to go to the Clemson game tomorrow.
Lucky.

I'm listening to the game, and I'm sick of hearing about toss sweeps. We need to get vastly tougher up front, put some guys in there who want to hit, and play smash-mouth football.
Has Napier never heard of a running back screen?

I submitted a request to Northland Cable for access to ESPN360.com this morning. They just called back and said they're "sending the request to corporate" and they'll hopefully approve it.
Sure would be nice to catch the Clemson/TCU game this Saturday.
I recommend all of Northland's customers (and non-customers for that matter) to use Northland's online contact form to request ESPN360 as often as possible. On the drop-down box for "nearest local office", I would select your local office and the corporate office. Keep submitting until you get a response.
I still haven't heard from the corporate office, so I'll keep submitting every hour until I hear something. There's no good reason for them to not offer ESPN360.
UPDATE 1 OCT 2009
I finally got a response from Northland, but I had to get snarky to get it:

ESPN360 is currently only provided to end users through agreements with their ISPs rather than direct to consumers.
Unfortunately we have not been able to reach a reasonable agreement with ESPN to provide the service to our customers at this time.
Thanks

Why don't your customers have access to ESPN360's streaming online content? We need access to ESPN360 immediately. I've contacted you dozens of times about this and received no response. Do you not care about customer service? There's no excuse for not responding.

Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol came in the mail today. I think I'll start reading it simultaneously with I Am Charlotte Simmons.
I finished Hannibal Rising last week and checked out Cold Mountain for my audio book in the car; I saw the movie a couple of times (once for free while I was in Kuwait at Camp Doha) -- the book seems femme, but worthwhile.

Well, Clemson's offense looked bland this week, but the D was off the hook (BC had 55 yards of total offense). CJ Spiller was explosive as always.
I'm hoping Billy Napier can call plays to offset weaknesses better than Rob Spence, because with the state of Clemson's O Line and TCU's defensive end, we might see another sad offensive game Saturday. Call me crazy, but Rendrick Taylor seems capable of laying the wood; move him over to help our Tackles.
I'm continually impressed by Travis Sawchik's Clemson articles.
Also glad to see USC, BYU, and Utah go down. I was expecting Florida to hang 60 on Tennessee, though.

The boys and I rode bikes around town a little bit this morning. We checked out the 2nd Annual MINI gathering at Orde's of England.
It began at 11:00, and here are some pictures at 11:03

Maybe more cars showed up later... we had to get home for the Clemson game.

Shoot, if Forrest Gump can do it, so can I.

I locked in a new interest rate and completed an application for a mortgage refinance today. We're going to save $363 per month with the new rate.
Ka-ching!

Paul Johnson, Gimmick Tech, your system is a sham! Recruits, take note.
By the way, coaches and systems that use cut blocks as part of their standard scheme will never get any respect. Cut blocking is wussified at best.

Something most people aren't aware of is that outside the U.S., there are different types of automobiles. I saw people driving those four-door Nissan pickup trucks in the Dominican Republic ten years before they were sold here.
Check out this Toyota Prado our Captain and First Sergeant had to scoot around Camp Anaconda in Iraq:

The right side of Clemson's offensive line is weak (I'm looking at you, Corey Lambert). Why do they almost exclusively call run plays to the right side?

Well, the referees saved Georgia Tech last night. Again.
So, if you're an under-recruited defensive lineman on a gimmick team, and you get tired late in the game because your team can't fill the shelves with real athletes, or the coaches are so inept, they don't condition you, just fall down and the officials will cover for you.
A blueprint for success against Gimmick Tech's defense:
Run a hurry-up offense. They are poorly conditioned (along with their offense, I might add), which, ultimately, is a failure by the coaching staff. It seems like Paul Johnson is so preoccupied with working on his stupid, gimmick scheme that he thinks nothing else matters, including conditioning. I guess you don't have to be very conditioned to dive at people's knees instead of manning up and blocking, though.
"There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false - the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally," President Obama said.
Upon hearing this, a loud voice from the Republican side of the hall answered, "You lie!". Turns out it was Rep. Joe Wilson (R - S.C.) Everyone is buzzing about it this morning, calling for Wilson to be censured and demanding an apology (which Wilson has since given). I don't have a problem with someone calling out the President or anyone else. I do have a problem with people irresponsibly trying to incite an uproar based on a lie.
So, my question is: if Joe Wilson really believes the President is lying, where is the proof? Offer some evidence or keep your trap shut.
Q: Does it help that guys probably saw this in high school?
A: I just talked to the ESPN guys about this. The question from them was, can this offense work? Yeah, it can, and it worked when people stopped doing it. What happened was, I think, it was a recruiting thing. Everybody wanted to go to the NFL, quarterbacks wanted to be at schools where they were throwing it around, read more...

“We do not plan to kick it out of bounds on purpose,” Johnson said. “We plan on kicking it. We got to kick it and cover it. Get the guy with the ball; that is what you play. We are getting ready for Clemson. We never get ready for individuals anyway. We are going to do what we do. We do not change by who the personnel is on the other team.
“He [Spiller] is going to get the ball so many times and you have to tackle him when he gets it. He is a great player but it would not be any different than trying to tackle Jonathan Dwyer in practice or a scrimmage. When he has the ball you have to wrap him up. You have to rally to the ball and more than one guy has to get there. You have to be aware of how they use him. “ read more...

One more thing from the Clemson game yesterday...
About four minutes left in the fourth quarter, two bats swooped down and landed on this guy's shirt. He just sat there looking at them.
We had a good time at the Middle Tennessee game yesterday. See here for my unprofessional (and brevity-ridden) evaluation along with a few videos of the game.
