I've Got Potatoes in My Drawers
May 27, 2012We took a cue from Pinterest and used some old drawers to make a raised garden for potatoes and onions.

The onions still have some growing to do.

We had to take a vacation hiatus this year while our old house was on the market. The sale closed recently, so that means we can plan a 2013 vacation!
Here's what we're doing.
We will drive a rental to Chicago, then catch the California Zephyr to San Francisco. We're going to buy a family bedroom for this leg of the trip since it will take 52 hours.
Once in California, we'll rent a car and roam around. I know we want to drive up the coast... maybe hit up some wineries and visit Redwood National Park.
I don't know when we'll go, but I would like to schedule the trip so we can catch a cool concert or festival in Chicago or San Francisco.
When we're done, we'll fly straight back home. Can't wait!
For some reason, Grits and Groceries does not have their breakfast menu posted on their website, so here you go, Googlers!

I released the ducks today, and they're doing fine.
They waded along the edge of the pond and bathed for about 15 minutes, then they suddenly decided to take a swim like they've been swimming every day.
So, here's their first swim in our pond.
By the way, I'm tired of referring to our pond as "the pond". We need to name it.
I'm thinking something like:
Belle Pond
Pork Chop Pond (it's sort of shaped like a pork chop)
Curl Pond
Pop Tart Pond
Municipal Bond Pond
(nerds raise the roof on these)
Pythagorean Pond
PicoPond
Proton Pond
While refilling my propane tank at Tractor Supply, I caught a cool spinner effect on a truck.
Not finished yet.
It's going to be so nice to sit out here under the fans this summer and rock in front of the pond.
We scratched our names into the concrete around the posts.

We seem to accumulate photos on our phones, and every now and then, I remember to check them. Sometimes, I find some photos I want to share, but they've become irrelevant to the moment. For example, it seems out of place to put up a photo in July of us playing in the snow in February. When that happens, I just have to save it for a Random Picture Friday, where it belongs. First of the Month Phone Dump specifically reminds me to get those photos off of our phones in a timely manner! We're working with a Galaxy Nexus for me and an iPhone for Mel. To create intrigue, I present the images of First of the Month Phone Dump without context. So dear reader, if you're left dying to know, "What is that?" or "Where is this?" well, just ask.
