Shrine Candidates Peanut Race

One of the things Shriner candidates have to do during the initiation is participate in a lot of peanut races (push a peanut with their nose over all kinds of terrain). All money they raise during their initiation goes to the Shriner's Hospital.

Crest Pro Health Mouthwash

May 27, 2009

I recently read a magazine article that said Crest Pro Health rinse prevents bad breath better than Listerine. So, after years of using Listerine, I decided to try Crest Pro Health.

Mistake.

Immediately after I gargled Pro Health the first time, I noticed the taste in my mouth felt weird. It never went away, and after a couple of days of using it as prescribed on the bottle, I can barely taste anything.

I did a little Google searching and I am far from alone on this. Apparently Pro Health can also turn your teeth brown. I'm not going to keep using the stuff long enough to verify that part of it; I'm pouring it out pronto and going back to Listerine.

The ability to taste food is one of the great joys in life, and if my sense of taste doesn't go back to normal, I'm going to be looking for a class action lawsuit.

Here's what they have to say on the Crest website:
  1. Does Crest Pro-Health Rinse cause taste loss?

Crest Pro-Health Rinse does not cause permanent taste alteration.

Change in taste typically goes away shortly after product use is stopped?!?! What good does that do me? That's like having a lightsaber with no handle. "Oh it'll stop burning your hand as soon as you put it down."

Crest Pro-Health rinse and no-handle lightsabers = useless

One of the best commercials ever.

"How did you get so many Qs?"
"Don't worry about it."

"Tai, why are you getting a Concealed Weapons Permit if you don't even have a handgun?"
"Don't worry about it."

McDonald's and Burger King -- Trans Fat

May 1, 2009

Surprisingly, McDonald's french fries don't contain trans fat, but all their burgers do. Same story for Burger King.

Arby's -- trans fat

Well, I don't eat Arby's roast beef sandwiches any more.  They (along with about half of the rest of the menu, including the large and medium curly fries) contain trans fat.

Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A is in the clear as far as trans fat goes.  I only saw one item on their menu that has trans fat (the cheesecake).

Zaxby's -- Trans Fat

Well, I don't eat at Zaxby's any more. Every one of their main course items (and most of their side items) has trans fat (proven to increase risk of heart disease and promotes dangerous cholesterol levels, which is something I don't need).
