New Bathroom Floor
March 18, 2012Our old house has been on the market for almost a year, so we've been upgrading some things around there. When it comes to home improvements, the mantra is kitchens and bathrooms.
Our master bath had this wonderful flooring that was installed during Jose Canseco's heyday. As beautiful and modern as that floor was, I laid a new one this weekend.
All it took was this $38 box of peel and stick vinyl tile and about $12 worth of molding.
I pried off the old molding and put the toilet in the tub so I wouldn't have to cut around them (and it makes the final product look better). Also, it helps adhesion to sand the old floor and clean it thoroughly.
You're not supposed to do this, but I started at the edge of the room. Ideally, you lay the first tile in the middle and work your way out. This is because the walls might not be square, and if the walls are convex or concave, it'll make the adjoining tiles difficult to align. It is much easier to deal with that situation from the inside out. It just happened to work out for me, though.
Nail the new molding down and put the toilet back.
Huge, huge improvement for $50.

Haden caught a bass in our pond yesterday. I was glad to see some fish still alive in there since the water got so low over the winter.

The triplets have been pampered this week. They had their nails polished at the Wightmans and got their first hair cuts today.

I seem to accumulate photos on my phone, and every now and then, I remember to check them. Sometimes, I find some photos I want to share, but they've become irrelevant to the moment. For example, it seems out of place to put up a photo in July of us playing in the snow in February. When that happens, I just have to save it for a Random Picture Friday, where it belongs.
