Certain Girls

I finished Certain Girls today. It's a definite Chick Book, and I don't say that in a negative way to bash women, female authors, femininity, or the female perspective. I love Joanne Rowling's books. Mary Karr's novels rock. I Am Charlotte Simmons (written from Charlotte's point of view) was good.

Certain Girls lives by a different formula, though. It's well-written, and there weren't many dull spots (there were some prolonged areas of exposition). Here's the plot rundown:

A wealthy woman is married to a doctor who doesn't care about her appearance and more or less does whatever she tells him to do. That's the dream right there!

Throw in a bittersweet ending and you've got yourself a Chick Book.

I'm giving it three stars on Amazon.
