Ocwen Loan Servicing

June 14, 2009

For the past half year or so, Ocwen Loan Servicing has been harassing me about hazard insurance on one of my rental properties. Today, I filed complaints against Ocwen with the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau of Dayton. I figured I'd get my complaint onto the Internet because Ocwen seems to have a reputation for harassing their customers.

I've held a mortgage with Ocwen since 1999. I have never made a late payment on this mortgage, hazard insurance on the property has NEVER lapsed, and my credit is excellent. In November 2008, Ocwen sent me a letter stating, "we did not have current hazard insurance information for your account". The letter included a website where I could submit my insurance information (www.mycoverageinfo.com), a fax number, mailing address, and email address where I could submit my information. After the first letter, I submitted my insurance information to the website within a week (11 NOV 2008). I also requested confirmation from updateinsuranceinfo@ocwen.com that the information I submitted was sufficient; Nobody ever responded.

The following month, I received another letter stating the same thing, as if I didn't submit my information. Ocwen threatened to place insurance (superfluously) at a cost to me, and threatened to recover administrative costs in doing so. So, I had my insurance agent fax my insurance policy to the fax number on 9 DEC 2008. After my agent faxed proof of insurance, I emailed updateinsuranceinfo@ocwen no less than 25 times requesting confirmation that they received my information. On 19 DEC 2008, I received a letter from Rijip Rajan in the Research Department in Orlando, FL acknowledging Ocwen received my insurance information.

In early January 2009, I received another threatening letter falsely claiming that I had not submitted my insurance information. On 23 JAN 2009, I notified the Ocwen Ombudsman of this problem. On 27 JAN 2009, I received a letter from Ronald Faris, president of Ocwen, apologizing and acknowledging that the requests for proof of insurance should not have occurred. He further stated that he took the steps to correct the error and assured me it would not happen again. On 4 FEB 2009, Jason Jastrzemski, Sr. Manager over the escrow area at Ocwen emailed me to apologize and acknowledge that the requests for proof of insurance should not have occurred.

In late May 2009, I received another letter requesting proof of insurance all over again. I emailed Jason Jastrzemski about it and he said he would "look into it immediately". I also personally faxed my proof of insurance to Ocwen's hazard insurance processing center on 1 JUN 2009 at 2:01 pm. On 10 JUN 2009, I received another letter requesting proof of insurance. I want Ocwen to stop harassing me and (more importantly) stop wasting my time.

We'll see what happens
